The GM L5P Duramax (2017–present) powers the Chevy Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD. From the factory, it delivers 445 hp and 910–975 lb-ft of torque, making it the most powerful Duramax to date.


The L5P features a new Bosch HP4 injection pump, stronger block and rotating assembly, and an updated Allison 1000/10L1000 transmission pairing. It’s far more reliable than the CP4-powered LML — but it’s not problem-free.
